Houston Air Pure

Air Duct Cleaning FAQ — Houston, TX

Scheduling, pricing, what the crew does to your house, and the Houston-specific questions — humidity, storm damage, new construction — that come up on almost every call.

Before You Book: The Questions We Hear Most

How fast can you get to my house in Houston?

Same-day appointments are usually available across Greater Houston when you call in the morning, and next-day is the norm otherwise. We're open Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 7 PM, and we give you an arrival window instead of a vague all-day promise.

Can you clean my air ducts, dryer vent, and chimney on the same visit?

Yes, and it's the most efficient way to do it — one trip, one crew, one setup. Tell us everything you want looked at when you call so we schedule enough time and quote the whole job upfront rather than adding to it halfway through.

Do I need to be home during the appointment?

Someone 18 or older should be there to let the crew in, point out the equipment, and approve the final walkthrough. You don't have to hover — most customers work from another room. We'll show you the before-and-after condition of the system before we pack up.

Will your crew make a mess in my house?

That would defeat the purpose. Shoe covers, drop cloths, and corner guards go down before any equipment comes in, and our vacuum runs under negative pressure so debris travels out of the house instead of into your living room. The work area gets cleaned before we leave.

How do you calculate my price?

By what's actually there: the number of supply and return vents, how many HVAC systems, the length and termination of the dryer vent run, and how heavy the buildup is. We inspect first, then give you one firm number in writing. The price you approve is the price you pay.

What does a NADCA-standard cleaning actually involve?

The system is put under negative pressure with a HEPA-filtered vacuum so nothing escapes into the house, then every supply and return branch is agitated with rotary brushes or air whips to release what's stuck to the duct wall. The plenum, coil area, and registers are addressed too — cleaning only the vent openings you can see is not cleaning a duct system.

My house smells musty every time the AC kicks on. Is that the ducts?

Often, but not always. In Houston the usual culprits are a dirty evaporator coil, standing water in the drain pan, or mildew on damp attic flex duct — humidity keeps all three wet enough to grow. We inspect the ducts, coil, and drain together and tell you which one is causing the smell before quoting anything.

Should I have my ducts cleaned after a flood or roof leak?

If water reached the attic ductwork or the air handler, yes — wet insulation and damp duct liner grow mold fast in Houston heat. Get it inspected within days, not months. If the water stayed at floor level and never touched the system, cleaning may not be urgent, and we'll say so.

My home is brand new. Do the ducts really need cleaning?

New construction is one of the best cases for it. Drywall dust, sawdust, and insulation fibers settle inside the ductwork while the house is being built and then blow around for years. A cleaning in the first year clears the construction debris out for good.

Are the products you use safe for kids, pets, and asthma?

We use EPA-registered treatments applied at label rates, and only where there's a reason to apply them — we don't fog a whole system to make it smell like something. Tell us about asthma, allergies, chemical sensitivities, or birds in the home when you book and we'll adjust the approach.

Do you clean dryer vents that exit through the roof?

Yes. Roof-terminated runs are common in Houston two-story homes and they're exactly the ones that clog, because the lint has to climb. They need to be cleared from both ends with rotary equipment, not blown at from the laundry room.

Do you charge a trip fee for the suburbs?

No. Katy, The Woodlands, Sugar Land, Cypress, Spring, Pearland, Humble, Missouri City, Richmond, and Tomball are all part of our regular service area and priced the same as inner-loop Houston. The quote you get on the phone doesn't grow because of your ZIP code.

What if I'm not happy with the work?

Tell the crew before they leave, or call the office. We walk the job with you at the end for exactly this reason — if something was missed, we come back and address it. One call to (281) 845-4011 reaches a person, not a ticket queue.
